Merlin Attractions in Blackpool

Merlin had been operating the Sea Life centre in Blackpool since 1990. Then in 2010 their Fylde Coast portfolio stepped up a gear when they took over The Tower and Madame Tussauds. These were the first Madame Tussauds and “Eye” branded experiences outside London. Blackpool Council made a multi-million pound investment in the Tower when they bought it and several other key buildings from Leisure Parcs.

Merlin Entertainments was founded in December 1998 and is now one of the worlds largest attraction operators. These are the Merlin Attractions in Blackpool – all together in the biggest Merlin cluster in the UK!

• SEA LIFE Blackpool – opened 9 August 1990 on the site of Luna Park and the Golden Mile Centre.
• The Blackpool Tower Circus – taken over 2010
• The Blackpool Tower Ballroom – taken over 2010
• Madame Tussauds Blackpool – opened 21 April 2011, replacing Louis Tussauds.
• The Blackpool Tower Dungeon – opened 1 September 2011
• The Blackpool Tower Eye – opened 1 September 2011 after a year long, £5m revamp.
• Peter Rabbit^TM : Explore and Play – opened 2022
• The Gruffalo & Friends Clubhouse – opened 2023

In 2022 Merlin also took operational control of and now manages Blackpool’s Sandcastle Waterpark.

Simply make and pay for your booking during January, for dates up until 22^nd March. Offer ends Wednesday 31st January 2024.
