Meet Nigel – the star of Blackpool!
The £1.3 million campaign is a partnership between Merlin Entertainments, Blackpool Council, Blackpool Tourism Business Improvement District and other partners. Seagull Nigel – brought to life by Johnny Vegas – brings the distinctive charm and character of this iconic seaside resort to life.
The new adverts will air across TV, radio, social media and video-on-demand, feature this straight talking, no-nonsense embodiment of the town itself. Nigel visits iconic attractions in the ad, including Blackpool Tower, the Pleasure Beach, Madame Tussauds and SEA LIFE.
Nigel says: “Think you know Blackpool? Well think again!”
Award-winning puppeteer Andy Heath created Nigel. He’s worked with the BBC, Lucas Films, The Jim Henson Company and Disney. The Creature London agency produced the campaign.
As Nigel would say, there’s plenty to squawk about in Blackpool!”
