Bob & Berts Blackpool

The Blackpool branch of Bob & Berts opened in July 2023, serving ‘proper coffee and great grub’. It’s a bright and modern cafe with plenty of seating, good coffee and a great menu.

  • Find it at – Unit 57 – 59, 17 Victoria Street, Blackpool, FY1 4HU – opposite the back door of M&S
  • Telephone – 01253 804149
  • Opening hours 8am-6pm, seven days a week (opens at 9am on Sundays).
  • Please check before travelling

This bright and modern cafe occupies a good spot as part of the Houndshill Shopping Centre, but can only be accessed from Victoria Street. Right at the heart of the town centre it’s in a handy place for hungry shoppers!

Nationally…

Bob & Berts is an Irish coffee shop chain, opening their first store in 2013 in Portstewart. Now they have shops in Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland. The Victoria Street one opened in Blackpool on 7 July 2023. This coffee shop chain serves locally sourced food and drinks and a wide choice of coffees, cakes, shakes, and coolers. You can also choose vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Colin McClean founded the brand, trying to create a welcoming and friendly coffee shop that stood out. The bright yellow and blue colours represent the sand and the sea of the seaside origins on the coast of Northern Ireland.

It’s a relaxing, family friendly vibe where you can enjoy a drink and something tasty to eat. There’s an all-day breakfast menu plus pancake stacks and waffle dishes. Choose from hot and cold sandwiches, fries and a wide menu with something for everyone.

Underneath the overhang that runs along Victoria Street, this Bob and Berts has a good range of covered but outdoor seating to the front of the store. Inside, the large 3,500 sq. ft space has 130 seats, split across the ground and first floor. Seating is a combination of traditional tables and chairs, comfy chairs and sofas and cute booths which are built like beach huts! Upstairs can also be used for private functions.

Disabled Access

There’s level access at the front of the store and plenty of manoeuvring space inside for wheelchairs and prams. There’s a disabled loo on the ground floor and additional customer toilets on the first floor too. Access to the first floor is by stairs.

Overall

I’ve been in various other branches of Bob & Berts in different towns and it is a good and consistent offer of both food and drinks. It’s always useful to be able to head to a familiar name when you’re in a new place – that way you know what you’re going to get.

There’s a lovely warm and relaxing atmosphere about this Blackpool Café. The day I visited was cold and grey and close to Christmas, so I chose a festive Christmas bowl. Including fries, turkey, stuffing, sausages, bacon and cranberry sauce it’s a tasty combination. The only thing was it should have included a Yorkshire Pudding (they were out of them). And the gravy would have been much better served separately!
