Bellamy’s Fish Bar aka Middle Chippy

Time after time this one comes up in discussions about recommended fish and chip shops so we thought we’d better take a look. Join us for a visit to Bellamy’s Fish Bar aka Middle Chippy…

Bellamy’s Fish Bar aka Middle Chippy

It was May 2024 when we visited Bellamy’s for the first time, not having been before then. Whenever conversation strikes up on Facebook about fish and chips, Middle Chippy is one that ALWAYS gets a mention. So we thought we’d better give it a try and see what all the fuss is about. It’s a family owned and run business and we can confirm that the fish and chips are DELICIOUS!

  • Find it at – 135-137 Red Bank Rd, Blackpool FY2 9HZ
  • Opening hours are Monday – Saturday, lunchtime 11.30am – 1.30pm and evenings 4.30/5-7.30pm
  • Please check before travelling

This traditional chippy is popular with visitors but also a place the locals use. Red Bank Road is where the big Illuminations arch is at Bispham – head inland and you’ll find this fish and chip shop opposite Sainsbury’s. It’s location on Red Bank Road makes it ideal for a bite to eat before or after your visit to the Blackpool Illuminations.

Indoors or Outdoors

There are two entrances to Bellamy’s Fish Bar. The right-hand door is the entrance to a small sit-down restaurant and the left hand door is the entrance to the take-away. There is stepped access into the restaurant and a small step up to the takeaway.

You can also order online for collection or delivery.

Overall

We visited Bellamy’s – aka Middle Chippy – on our way back home to Cleveleys, buying takeaway and eating them in the car. The food was freshly cooked to order and piping hot. The food was delicious and it didn’t take long for it all to disappear! Watch the video to find out what we thought to it. Honestly it was some of the best fish and chips we’ve had – and we’ve tried a lot!

White fish with a crispy batter and fluffy chips, served with a huge portion of peas. Not at all greasy, no funny after taste – and didn’t leave indigestion behind afterwards!

Overall impressions are excellent, and we will be returning again. It certainly maintains its place at the top of the Visit Fylde Coast list of go-to places to eat in Blackpool.
