The hilarious monsters will form a spectacular, family-friendly trail between the Golden Mile and nearby town centre throughout the day. They’ll be illuminated during the evening so they glow in the dark. Your job is to hunt them down!

TEN giant monsters are taking over buildings around the Golden Mile and town centre. (They’re not great in high winds so they might hide if it’s too gusty! Check with Visit Blackpool first). Here’s what you’re looking out for and the ten locations. Can you match the monster to the spot where they are?

Groaner

This is the fiercest of rooftop beasts! He’s got a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and likes to lurk near the flicker of the big screen. Don’t get too close or you might be his next snack!

Sick Jagger

Get ready to rock ‘n’ roll with the grooviest monster in town. Sick Jagger has a mouth ready to belt out tunes and eyes to spot a crowd from miles away! Find him high above a spot where entertainment is in full swing!

Howler

He might seem spooky at first glance but don’t be fooled by Howler! This orange monster is more afraid of you! With all those eyes and a constantly startled expression, Howler’s always on edge. Give it a friendly wave but try not to frighten it too much!

Invasion

Watch out! A mysterious sea creature is slowly creeping out of the depths! Invasion is on the lookout for a new home by the sea – looking for a place where the lights shine bright. Keep your eye peeled if you’re up for the challenge, Invasion might stretch out a tentacle a make a move at any moment!

Eye-Spy

Here’s a shy monster who loves to hide but misses nothing! Eye-Spy has an extra long neck to help this yellow-eyed giant to peer over rooftops and watch everything… You’ll catch a glimpse of Eye-Spy near a spot where visitors rest their heads and nightlife comes alive…

Bezerker

Bezerker is a big green monster with devilish horns – known for its temper tantrums! Getting upset over the smallest things – like the wind blowing the wrong way or the trains rumbling by!

Octoplasm

Look out for the purple wriggling sea creature that’s surfaced from the deep! Octoplasm loves to float above the town, guarding the nearby sea creatures. If you’re exploring ocean wonders you might spot Octoplasm making waves with it’s purple eyes and wobbly body!

Nosy Bonk

Look out for a bright pink monster with a huge nose and a funky quiff! Nosy Bonk loves to keep an eye on what’s happening in the centre of town.

Ziggy

You’ll find Ziggy on the roof of a building that’s dedicated to entertainment! He’s a quirky creature that loves all things fun, watching through those big, hypnotic googly eyes!

Chomper

Don’t be scared of Chomper’s big toothy grin – it loves to chomp up anything that catches its eye! He’s got a sweet spot for flashing lights and ringing arcade bells. Look out for his favourite hangout!

Renowned inflatable design company, Designs In Air are making the monsters. They’ve worked for major clients including Glastonbury, Cirque du Soleil and New York Aquarium. One of their design artists is Filthy Luker. They said: “Our motive is to make the world a softer, more surreal and colourful place. It’s a kind of vendetta against the mundane, concrete world we live in.

“With the element of surprise as a shock tactic, our giant pop-up artworks spice up the norm and disrupt skylines. Everyone who passes by sees them and instantly enjoys them! It might not be high art, but it is definitely high UP art!”
