Blackpool Pier to Pier Swim
First held in 2018 (see the video below) it’s now an annual event. Dozens of participants make the approximately 1.6 mile swim and many more spectators line the seafront to watch!
Sunday 21 August 2022 at 9am
You’ll be looked after in the water by the highly experienced Blackpool Beach Patrol, in liaison with HM Coastguard. There’s a time limit of 1.5 hours on the swim, after which time you’ll be told to get out of the water and/or taken to shore.
The event aims to raise awareness for LoveMyBeach charity which carries out work to maintain the cleanliness of beaches and bathing waters across the UK.
All entrants will receive a bespoke plaque, T-shirt and commemorative swim hat.
Safer Swim/Tow floats are mandatory for all swimmers.

Open Water Swimming
This outdoor sport has grown in popularity in recent years, especially since the pandemic. You can expect to enjoy a water temperature between 14°C and 16°C – but it can vary quite a lot depending on the amount of rain and sunshine.
