Locals Helping Locals at Christmas

This years Locals Helping Locals at Christmas food bank appeal is taking place on Friday 23rd November 2019.

This event was founded by Hayley Kay (Radio Wave, BBC Radio Lancashire) and her pals five years ago. It’s snowballed into a fantastic community event that aims to put food on the table at Christmas for the 10,000 children and their families who are living below the poverty line in Blackpool.

It’s estimated that there are more than 10,000 children in Blackpool living below the poverty line. It’s hoped that this year’s appeal will go some way to ensuring that these children and their families have food for the festive season, something that a lot of us take for granted.

Can you help?

Have a look at the list of non-perishable food items that are being collected.  Spread the message to family, friends, neighbours and workmates!
If possible please take the items to the Sandcastle on collection day to meet Hayley Kay and join in with the fun. However, don’t worry if you can’t get there, collection can also be arranged.
Collection day (Friday 23 Nov from 4-7pm) is a special day, with entertainment from Blackpool Music Service Brass Band and The Revoelution Community Choir. There’s also hot chocolate and mince pies for everyone. Free car parking is available on South Beach car park, adjacent to Sandcastle Waterpark.

You can help to make it another successful collection, on behalf of Blackpool Food Bank.

Visit Fylde Coast is supporting the event which really is the epitome of community spirit and support.
